Folks are always asking me what are my must-have travel items. And since I spend so much time on the road, I am constantly looking for new devices or accessories that can help make travel as smooth and seamless as possible.
Here are five of my current tried-and-true essentials:
1. Top of the must-have list is my wonderful Rimowa Salsa Air rolling suitcase. The German-made Rimowa suitcases are expensive, but well worth it! I have had my Salsa Air (sounds like a dance class, no?) for four years, and the thing just won’t give up. It looks as good today as it did when I first purchased it. Totally indestructible and lightweight, there’s loads of room for my clothes. Genius.
2. Ziploc bags. Cheap and chic. I use oversized Ziploc bags to store my myriad chargers. And since the bags are clear, I don’t have to rummage around when, say, I need my Kindle charger lickety-split.
3. L.L.Bean tote bags. Essentials! These bags fold up perfectly and look great, plus they hold gobs of gear—from clothes to treasures picked up along the way. I can carry these from a flea market out to the most stylish of restaurants. I am especially fond of the zip-top Hunter’s Tote Bag in camouflage.
4. The Mophie Juice Pack. I used to get so tired of my iPhone dying by early morning, and who wants to carry a charger around at all times? The Mophie with its external, rechargeable battery keeps my phone juiced up when the charge starts to fade.
5. Composition books. You know those black-and-white notebooks that you can buy in any school supply section. I keep all of my travel notes and to-do lists in these fabulous books that have classic good looks and are wildly cheap.
