Dear Readers:
As many of you know, I love nothing more than reading the missives that you send to me by way of my jetset.delta@gmail.com e-mail address and then responding with what I hope is useful information.
One reader recently asked me how to cure her case of the mean reds and blues (AKA “boredom”), and I suggested that she take a lengthy bath in champagne, paint her toenails in Chanel’s Metallic Vamp and then send a donation to her favorite charity.
“Dear Barbara,” I typed. “You have something to eat on your table and are literate and lacking not of limbs. Get a grip. And try Freixenet, it minimizes the pores.”
Apparently, that advice worked wonders as Barbara M. has just sent me flowers and a very kind note on American Cancer Society stationery. (And her note notes that her pores have never looked smaller!)
So let’s see what’s on your mind this week . . .
Ah, here’s a good one.
Dear Jet Set:
I love your blog [blah, blah, blah]…
I am looking for a spa retreat within 2.5 hours of New York City that offers a taste of the mountains and a splash of the unexpected.
Sincerely,
Candice K.

Oh, that’s an easy one.
Dear Candice:
The only place to go is the Emerson Resort & Spa tucked away in Mount Tremper, New York. It’s an easy two-hour drive from Manhattan, the resort is surrounded by the glorious Catskill Mountains, and there’s a delicious, Asian-tinged sensibility to the place that would add a transporting vibe to your experience.
Can’t you just see yourself tucked into a plush terrycloth robe and headed for a weekend-long retreat in the Catskills?
Check into your bathrobe, and plan to wear nothing more all weekend. Among my most favorite spa treatments are the hot oil and poultice massage, the luxe body scrubs and the 50-minute Ayurvedic Maharini facial. And when you need a break from pampering your body, the spa’s Phoenix restaurant whips up a potent martini.
Why leave the resort when you can cozy up in a luxe canopied bed?
Sincerely.
