Dear Readers:
It has been an absolute zip-zip-zip of late—as those of you reading my Tweets can attest. First it was Bologna, Italy, for Cersaie, the international exhibition of ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings, where I scoped the latest and greatest in Italian flooring and fittings. And from there it was on to Venice to write my feature on La Serenissima for the December issue of the magazine. And then it was on to London and now, finally, back to New York.
Zut alors!, what a lucky Jet Setter I am. And what’s coming up on my travel docket, you might ask? A few days in Chicago, then Santiago, Chile, for the opening of the new W hotel . . . and then Miami and Antigua, Guatemala, for Thanksgiving. I have my cranberry sauce from Fortnum & Mason in London ready to go for our annual sojourn to lovely Guatemala, where you can find roast turkey and stuffing—but piquant red berries seem to be lacking. My brother is in the Peace Corps south of the border and grows his own coffee, so we’ll probably end off our Thanksgiving Day meal with Alexander Nixon-grown café spiked with gobs of whisky to ward off the heckling of our parents.
But enough about me: Let’s talk about you and your travel wants and needs. I turn again to the ever-growing pile of reader mail.
Dear Jet Setter:
I love nothing more than reading your blog [blah, blah, blah]…
I am off to Chicago for a long weekend and am looking for an urban retreat, somewhere that I can luxuriate in spa services paired with a view and a soothing sensibility. I need some R&R big time!
Sincerely,
Maude

Dear Ms. Beaverdale:
That question is easy with a capital “E!”
Book a room at the Trump International Hotel & Tower, and watch those work-a-day cares quickly dissolve like so much Sweet'N Low in your hot tea.
The Trump International Hotel & Tower offers a soothing sanctuary within its mile-high, sky-scraping tower.
Here’s why:
- The location—just steps from the Chicago River and the shops of Michigan Avenue—could not be more ideal.
- The views. Wow!
- The rooms are luxe beyond belief with all of the thread counts and overstuffed seating and deep tubs that you could ever want.
- The spa is beyond delicious: My most favorite treatment is the amazing Royal Lulur Ritual, 120 minutes of massages, scrubs and hydrotherapy treatments. I have never felt better than after sampling this unique, intense service.
- Australian chef Frank Brunacci’s stellar cooking at Sixteen, the hotel’s signature, sublime restaurant. Try the scallops and foie gras or the butter-poached lobster paired with a apple foam.
Sample the divine Royal Lulur Ritual at the Spa at Trump, and prepare for some serious bliss.
Am off to our photo shoot for December's cover!
Signing off!
