Housed in a former bank and outfitted with mid-century furniture, Café Modern may be one of the most charming restaurants in town. Like many Amsterdam culinary hot spots, Café Modern opts for a prix fixe style menu, but don’t assume that equals stuffiness. Menus change weekly, but expect delicious and non-fussy dishes like beef tartar, pan-friend cod fillet served with carrots and risotto croquettes or rich and delicious gnocchi.
