Designed by Richard Meier and Renzo Piano, the High Museum is an oasis of white and green space in downtown Atlanta. With strong collections of African and European art, the High also has an excellent range of Decorative Arts—the Cocke collection of English ceramics from 1640 to 1840—and photography, with a focus on American Civil Rights era photography. Folk Art lovers will find works by Howard Finster and Thornton Dial to name just two.
