Visitors with a need for speed should venture to the Charlotte Motor Speedway for this heart-racing experience. The Richard Petty Driving Experience allows participants to slide into the front seat, buckle their seatbelts and feel the adrenaline as they travel around the speedway at a breakneck pace (under strict supervision, of course). A variety of driving and ride-along experiences are available in 600-hp NASCAR racecars with 4-speed manual transmissions. With top speeds of 160 mph, cars can whip around the 1.5-mile quad-oval track for 8, 18 or 30 laps in the driver’s program and for three laps in the ride-along experience. Age requirement: You must be at least 16 years old with a valid drivers license to participate in the driving experiences. Participants in ride-along programs must be at least 14 years old. A parent or legal guardian must accompany all participants under 18.
