Completed in 1887, the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse is Florida’s tallest lighthouse (175 feet) and one of the tallest masonry lighthouses in the country. Those who climb the historic lighthouse 203 steps are rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the area. Fun Fact: The lighthouse is also a pivotal “character” in famed Red Badge of Courage author Stephen Crane’s short story The Open Boat, where it is called the “Mosquito Inlet Lighthouse.”
