Opened in 1916 by Carolyn Bauder, the first registered female pharmacist in Iowa, this classic soda fountain does fantastic malts, sodas, ice cream (their home-made strawberry is superb), plus a smattering of sandwiches. The egg salad is top-notch, but you’ll be temped to start with dessert first. Do it.
