The Botanical Garden Society of the Ozarks, a grassroots organization, has created a gorgeous oasis in the middle of the city for all to enjoy. Stroll along the stone paths surrounded by hundreds of flowers, enjoy an outdoor reading room, explore a timber-framed horticulture center, or visit the outdoor theater Tyson Terrace, the children’s garden and a butterfly pavilion. The Botanical Garden is also about education and family fun with events such as the Pajama Party with hot chocolate, refreshments and a holiday story. Bring the youngsters to Little Sprouts every Wednesday to learn about “Lively Ladybugs” and “Down on the Farm.” Concerts, cocktail parties, Chefs in the Garden, and themed garden walks and workshops also are on the schedule. Don’t forget about the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market in the meadow next door, from May to October, where you’ll find local produce and crafts.
