This Japanese dive in downtown Kahului may not have much atmosphere, but that doesn’t stop the flow of regulars who come for the fresh sushi and authentic Japanese comfort food, including tempura udon noodles in homemade broth. Restaurant Matsu is known for their California rolls and nigiri sushi–these well known specialties attract people from all over the island. They also serve a great cold saimin, an island staple with cucumber, egg, pork and red ginger served on noodles.
