The Conrad Mansion sits on the edge of the original townsite on a bluff overlooking the Flathead Valley and the Swan mountain range. The city founder, Charles E. Conrad, arrived in Flathead in 1891 and dreamed of establishing a beautiful town. This Victorian house is the home he built for his family in 1895 and where his youngest daughter lived until 1964. In 1974, she donated the mansion to the city and it’s now open for visitors to take tours and many city events are held here. The elegant house has eight large fireplaces, 26 rooms, three floors and three landscaped acres with flowerbeds, perennial beds, edges, evergreens and spacious lawns. Original family furnishings, clothing as well as toys and dolls can be found throughout the house, adding a personal touch to the museum.
