Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) remains the main airport gateway for Lagos. Once outside the airport, Lagos remains an unpredictable, logistical nightmare—getting from A to B might take 15 minutes one day and up to an hour or two the next. This city is notorious for traffic jams. Not all streets are clearly labeled so renting a car and driving yourself will be challenging. Even locals who’ve lived in the city for many years still have problems navigating it. Your best bet is to rent a taxi for a couple days, and your hotel can help you arrange this beforehand including scheduling a pickup at the airport. Flagging down a cab is not recommended, instead consider the rickshaw-like 3-wheeled yellow motorcycle taxis called Keke Maruwa. These are much safer to hail and hop aboard.
For the more adventurous soul, you can try navigating Lagos on the back of a motorcycle called an Okada, which will get you to your destination faster but it means enduring a harrowing, weaving path through traffic. Ride at your own risk.
