A boisterous crowd fills the Fifth Third Pavilion in Cheapside Park on Saturday mornings April through November at the largest farmer’s market in Kentucky. Growers in the Bluegrass State produce an abundance of goods and shoppers will find colorful displays of heirloom vegetables, organic meats and eggs, profusions of flowers, game birds, freshwater fish, locally made pasta and artisan bread and cheese, and an array of other goodies. Don’t forget your camera! Live music keeps the mood festive and freshly prepared food such as French crepes and smoothies made with bike-powered blenders keep bellies full and happy. Chef demonstrations and educational programs round out the experience and a wander through—with plenty of tastings and conversations with the Kentucky vendors—is a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning. The market also arranges farm tours if you want to get even closer to the ground. The market moves indoor to Victorian Square December till spring.
