LA is the ultimate stand-in, for Japan, Hawaii, Manhattan, New England, Casablanca -even a planet for apes. The movies have used LA’s chameleon qualities to their great advantage - all it takes is cropping out a few palm trees. From historic landmarks to baseball lots to private homes (spruced up for one movie, covered with spider webs for another), to museums and parks, LA is jam-packed with memorable movie locations. And, sometimes, LA even plays herself.
