Lay of the Land

Dane County Regional Airport is just six miles from the heart of downtown Madison. The city sits on an isthmus between two lakes, Mendota and Monona. At the center is the Capitol Square, where traffic travels just one way—counterclockwise—around the inner and outer loops. Just north of the Capitol is the historic Mansion Hill neighborhood, which is home to the greatest concentration of intact Victorian houses remaining in the city.
