Travelers who stay in the downtown Madison area can get around by biking, walking, taxi or Madison Metro bus service. Cabs are ready and waiting at the Dane County Regional Airport, but you’ll need to call ahead for one in most other parts of the city, and fares are expensive compared to larger metropolitan areas. For $10 you can buy a 24-hour pass from Madison’s B-cycle program, which has two dozen stations throughout the downtown area where riders can use a bike for 30 minutes or less at a time. The bike-sharing program tacks on additional fees for trips longer than 30 minutes.
