If you are visiting Spain and walking around anywhere in the city center, you will inevitably encounter Madrid’s largest public park (approximately 350 acres). Parque del Retiro is home to spectacular sculptures and botanical areas, a large lake, monuments and galleries. While there, make sure you visit the Palacio de Cristal (“Crystal Palace”), originally built in 1887 to exhibit flora and fauna from the Philippines but now used for art exhibits.
