Located in the Parque del Oeste (West Park) near the royal palace of Madrid, the Temple of Debod is one of the few works of Egyptian architecture rebuilt outside of Egypt and the only one of its kind in Spain. It was donated by Egypt with the support of UNESCO in 1968 and opened to the public in Spain in 1972 in appreciation for Spain’s help in saving the Egyptian temples of Abu Simbel.
