A square where history and romance collide, Plaza de Santo Domingo celebrates the memory of Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, the renowned heroine of the Mexican War of Independence. The plaza is best known for its "scribes," most of who are clicking away on ancient typewriters, writing out messages for the illiterate who whisper them into their ears. Come to admire the Church of Santo Domingo with its stunning Mexican Baroque architecture or have a love letter typed up by one of the scribes and send it home to your sweetheart.
