The Fillmore Theater not only showcases the biggest acts in live entertainment, but it has also been a favorite concert venue in Miami since it opened more than 60 years ago. Then called the Miami Beach Municipal Auditorium, it drew visitors from around the world, not to mention legends like Frank Sinatra and Jack Benny, who came to see song and dance performances, comedy and boxing matches. In 1964, famed TV personality Jackie Gleason moved his show to the theater, where he declared, “Miami Beach audiences are the greatest in the world!” Today, the renamed Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater shines much like it did in the Golden Era with its quirky Art-Deco design, small and intimate show experience, numerous bars and beautiful chandeliers. Broadway performances, big-name comedians and famous musicians continue to grace the stage.
