Quite possibly the most un-Italian bar in all of Italy, Bar Magenta, with its wood décor and huge selection of beer on tap, has the look and feel of a traditional English pub. An institution with young Milanese and the expat community for more than a century, locals claim that Bar Magenta coined the popular “aperitivo” tradition, wherein free appetizers are given out when you buy a drink. If there’s a soccer (better call it football in Italy) match, you can bet every Brit in town is sitting at Bar Magenta glued to the TV with pint in hand.
