For history buffs, this 1892 Flemish Renaissance Revival mansion is a real treat: It was once the lavish home of Captain Frederick Pabst, the founder of Pabst Brewing Company who arrived in Milwaukee from Germany in 1848. Guided tours start on the hour and last a little under an hour, with ample time afterward to explore on your own. An impressive art collection, with pieces dating from the 1640s to the early 1900s, is a testament to Frederick’s passion for art, as well as that of his wife Maria. Be sure to save time for browsing and shopping in the gift shop, especially if you’d like to pick up a German beer stein.
