Fun Facts

The largest city in the state of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (which means “gathering place by the water” in the Ojibwe language) is home to about 600,000 residents. It is the 28th-most populous city in the United States. Originally inhabited by members of seven Native American tribes (including Ho-Chunk and Menominee), French missionaries and fur traders stumbled upon the region in the late 1700s, and beer barons from Germany followed by the 1840s.
