Inaugurated in 1876, the splendid Mount Royal Park was planned by Frederick Law Olmsted, the skilled designer behind New York City’s Central Park and many other major parks in the United States. Perched up on a hill, the park is a walker’s and birdwatcher’s delight. Dozens of trails invite hikers and cyclers to explore the 692-acre park. Or just pack a picnic to enjoy at the top of the mountain that gives Montreal its name.
