Just south of the Marienplatz, you’ll find Munich’s oldest open-air market—dating back to 1807. Stalls adorned with garlands of homemade sausages, loads of cheeses, fresh fish, pyramids of fruit and veggies, warm breads and a beer garden in the center (it doesn’t open until 9 a.m., as if that would be an issue). Don’t have a kitchen available during your stay in Munich? Stop by one of the prepared foods booths or restaurants for a bite. Fish-Witte, a market café specializing in seafood, does a topnotch soup. Please note that some individual stall operating hours vary from the times above. Some open early, some close late. Go with the flow.
