Travel back in time with a visit to the Hopsewee Plantation, located just south of Georgetown near the Myrtle Beach area. Dating back to 1740, Hopsewee is the former rice plantation and home of Thomas Lynch, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. From its beautiful landscape on the North Santee River to the antique furniture you’ll see on the fascinating house tour, the plantation is a well-preserve timepiece, having never been allowed to fall into disrepair. Also on the property is the River Oak Cottage, where visitors can enjoy a cup of tea and elegant dessert in one of the state’s finest tearooms.
