NOMA is known for its French and American art, photography, glass and African and Japanese works. Over 30,000 art objects are on display in the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, including works by Edgar Degas, who spent time in the city visiting relatives and painting. The five-acre Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden features work by over 60 different artists and 20th century master sculptures.
