The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest art museums in the world, with a permanent collection of more than two million pieces. Wander around the fabled museum amongst the many works that span 5,000 years and range from South Asia to European classics and practically everything in between. A highlight is the original painting "George Washington Crossing the Delaware" by American artist Emanuel Leutze, which is more than 12 feet high and 21 feet long. Though not currently on view, the famed painting will be exhibited come January in the New American Wing Galleries for Paintings, Sculpture, and Decorative Arts. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to visit the museum as you could spend days exploring and still not see it all!
