Mompou is one of the newest additions to the Ironbound’s cluster of Portuguese and Spanish nightspots. Named for 20th-century Spanish composer Frederic Mompou, this tapas and wine bar has executive chef Alexandre Gomes at the helm. Mompou specializes in small plates and a vast wine list, with live music and/or DJs nightly. This is a great date spot with a romantic ambience, including a hammered-copper ceiling and exposed-brick walls, as well as an outdoor patio during the summer. The gazpacho is superb, as are the grilled peppers with chorizo sausage.
