This is one of the only remaining Jewish delis in Newark, rumored to have pastrami sandwiches that rival the famous Katz’s Deli in Manhattan. Hobby’s owners, Samuel Brummer and his sons Michael and Marc, have kept this a family business since 1962 and in the last few years have begun the famous "Operation Salami Drop,” a program that sends salamis to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Other favorites on the menu here include matzo ball soup and black and white cookies.
