Just 20 minutes from Norfolk is Virginia Beach, where there’s so much to do, you could spend an entire day exploring. Virginia Beach Horseback offers beach riding from October through Memorial Day, including swimming on horseback in the summer months. Take a walk (bike, or rollerblade) along the three-mile boardwalk, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, before catching dinner at one of the many restaurants or a tour of the museums and historic sites in the vicinity. To complete the experience, take a ride on the Ferris wheel or check out the arcade at one of the two amusement parks. Throughout the year, the city of Virginia Beach presents Beach Street USA, an events program offering entertainment, fireworks, musical performances and more along the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
