Nestled on 53 acres along the Lafayette River, the 100-year-old Virginia Zoo offers several behind the scenes tours that let families get up close and personal to their favorite animals. The program features a Giraffe Feeding Package, where visitors have the opportunity to feed a Masai giraffe; the Elephant Package, where one can venture into the elephant barn to meet the zoo’s three African elephants and create an original painting with an elephant; the Kangaroo Package; the Red River Hog Package; a Reptile Package; and a Barnyard Package. Prices vary depending on group size and package.
