The historic Pensacola Lighthouse, built in 1859, stands more than 160 feet tall at the Naval Air Station Pensacola. The fourth tallest brick lighthouse in the United States may be the most haunted, it is said that the first lighthouse keeper, Jeremiah Ingraham, still roams the quarters. Take a “Light of the Moon” tour, held monthly, for stories of ghost folklore and the tales of deaths of past lighthouse keepers. Or climb the 177 steps to the top to witness the Blue Angels flight show from heights where you can feel the roar of the plane zoom by. Visitors can also peruse the local history exhibits in the Richard C. Callaway Museum in the restored 1869 keepers’ quarters.
