Tacconelli’s is Philadelphia’s best pizzeria, and it has earned the right to be a little quirky. Here, you do not call ahead to reserve a table—you call ahead to reserve your dough. Tacconelli’s is a one-man, one brick-oven operation, which means that, even with a reservation, you still might have to wait an hour for your pizza. But the wait will be worth it for a perfectly crisp thin-crust “tomato pie” with a sweet-yet-tangy sauce that will leave you licking your fingers.
