If you’re so inclined, one could ski in the morning, surf in the afternoon, and still make it back to the city for dinner. The ski slopes on Mt. Hood are only about an hour and fifteen minutes away, and the Oregon Coast is an hour and a half away.

There are more than 500 licensed food carts in Portland’s Multnomah County, with many located downtown (visit www.foodcartsportland.com for more details). Most are completely unique with edibles ranging from baked potatoes, Peruvian fare, Bosnian dishes, crepes, Hawaiian edibles and even gluten free options. (In fact, Budget Travel magazine noted that Portland has some of the world’s best street food.)
