The city was founded in 1851 by 800 settlers. The founders couldn’t agree on whether to name it Portland or Boston- the matter was resolved with a coin toss! Today Portland has more than half a million people, and the metropolitan area more than 2 million.

Portland has more microbreweries than any other city in the world.
