The three rivers run through Providence, meeting in the downtown area. In that spot, artist Barnaby Evans installed WaterFire, a beautiful installment that features 100 bonfire pits set on atop the rivers. On weekends in the summer months, the bonfires are lit in a ceremony that becomes performance art. The audience gathers along the river, mesmerized by the fire and city lights reflecting off of the water. The lighting begin at sunset with the sound of a gong—check the website for a full calendar of events.
