Names to Know

Seth MacFarlane, creator of the animated television series Family Guy, lived in Providence while he was a student at Rhode Island School of Design. The show is based in Quahog, Rhode Island, a fictional town, but has many similarities to Providence including the skyline. Other notable alumni from RISD include glassblower Dale Chihuly, graffiti artist and graphic designer Shepard Fairey and the band Talking Heads.
