Unless you are allergic to the sun, you shouldn’t be allowed to leave Rio until you’ve spent time on Ipanema Beach. Rated by the Travel Channel as the “Sexiest Beach in the World,” the sandy shores that line Rio’s coast are the place to see and be seen. The beach is divided into multiple “neighborhoods,” separated by postos, or lifeguard towers, and each section has its own unique personality. The most famous is Posto Nove, where you’re likely to spot a celebrity or two.
