One of the country’s best regional museums, the Memorial Art Gallery at the University of Rochester is Rochester’s definitive art museum boasting works spanning more than 5,000 years of art history. From ancient relics to the best in contemporary art movements, the more than 11,000 works of art span several centuries and include artists as varied as Rubens, Rembrandt, Monet, Cézanne, Matisse, Homer and Cassatt. Be sure to spend some time in the lovely central gallery where a vast skylight beams over the museum’s collection of 20th century sculpture, including works by Henry Moore.
