This is Florida’s oldest, largest and most scenic state park and is comprised of the Myakka River, which flows through 57 miles of wetlands, prairies and woodlands. Head to the Myakka River State Park to enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking, camping and observing across all sorts of wildlife, especially if you choose to hike the Myakka Canopy Walkway off the Boylston Nature Trail. View life in the treetops 25 feet about the ground, then climb further up a tower so you can look down on eagles, hawks and countless creatures. Need to get some gear? The park has an outpost where you can buy fishing supplies, clothes, books and souvenirs as well as rent bikes, canoes and kayaks. Gator stew and alligator jerky are available, too, if you’re hungry, as is less exotic fare like hot dogs, ice cream and snacks.
