Transportation 101

Singapore is a pedestrian-friendly city, but the heat tends to wear walkers down. It’s easy to hail a cab throughout the city, although it’s best to look for taxi stands, which are located near shopping centers and hotels. Taxis are safe and cheap, usually costing less than $5 to get around the central district. The subway (MRT) is clean, efficient and fast, and a great alternative. There are ticketing machines located at all stations.
