Until 1995 Duffy’s Love Shack was in a busy alleyway in Charlotte Amalie. Hurricane Marilyn destroyed its simple thatch-hut roof but the owners refused to let it die; instead, they reopened in Red Hook (a second location is on St. John). Tropical- and tiki-inspired cocktails are par for the course yet there are also signature concoctions like Duffy’s Nuts (cocktail of your choice, from rum ‘n’ coke to gin ‘n’ tonic, served in a carved coconut). The Famous Love Shack Volcano really is locally famous: 50 ounces of frozen tropical fruit served flaming.
