Tel Aviv Port is a bit of a misnomer: It’s on the water, in the north end of the city, but its days as a functioning port are long gone. No worries, though: like Boston’s Quincy Market, today there’s so much going on here that you could easily spend half a day exploring it all. The vast wooden deck area takes a sloping, sculptural form meant to evoke sand dunes, and it ends right at the water. Alongside it you’ll find some of the best seafood restaurants in Tel Aviv. They’re pricey, but there are plenty of family-friendly cafés, ice cream parlors and the like, too. Add to that trendy and traditional shops and more outdoor places to sip a cocktail or sample Israeli cuisine than you could fit into a week’s worth of repeat visits. One pavilion contains an Israeli tapas bar as well as a bustling organic market where you can stock up on everything from delectable olives and produce to gourmet fresh baked goods.
