The great nation of Switzerland is veined with amazing wanderwege, or hiking trails, each serving up grueling workouts in addition to wondrous views of mountaintops and the nation’s true-blue alpine lakes. Look for the yellow diamond-shaped signs marked “wanderweg”—these keep walkers on track as they carry along. For excellent hiking near the city, try one of the many trails at Üetliberg, a small mountain next to Zürich.
