Following Mark Wahlberg

"Following Mark Wahlberg."
Delta Sky Magazine August 2010 cover photo shoot
Pacific Coast Highway, Los Angeles

Celebrity, Business and Cool
Mark Wahlberg is a nice tight package of celebrity, business and cool. And in Boogie Nights we learned that God gave this star a solid package … of acting talent.
Singor, Actor, Producer
Mark Wahlberg has reinvented himself successfully and almost seamlessly from singer to actor to producer, a feat rarely realized in Hollywood.
Giant of Industry
So in early June atop a Los Angeles mountain, on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, I waited eagerly for this giant of industry, the one man on the planet who could have punched Andy Samberg in the face and been applauded.
All-American
It was the August cover shoot for Delta Sky Magazine. The concept: Wahlberg, just off the Pacific Coast Highway, leaned up alongside an all-American car, and giving you that signature smile with handsome glint-in-eye and mysterious furrowed brow that is at once dangerous and so Clooney seductive.
Wahlberg's a Busy Man
He’s a busy man, and earlier that day he had just returned to Los Angeles from a Pebble Beach charity golf event. Wahlberg and his entourage had rallied and were now headed to the shoot in his Bentley Azure.
Hiding the Evidence
Fearing I’d appear as the pauper that I am (not that Mark, from humble beginnings, would care), I hid my car in a turnoff down the mountain so I would not be seen as the dude in the missing hubcap ’97 Nissan Sentra with a dent in the tailgate.
The entourage of the entourage of the entourage
Wahlberg headed to a quick makeup, and I loitered on this cliff with his buds, becoming the entourage of his entourage. Nice guys, one of whom invited me to a Dodger game. If I invite someone, then it could be a night of the entourage of the entourage of the entourage. How about them apples?
'71 Vette Stingray
Wahlberg’s a professional, and as he posed in front of a ‘71 Vette Stingray along the winding mountain road, it looked like this just might be his secret LA lookout or makeout vista.
Wahlberg in his Bentley
For good measure, the photographer snapped a few photos of Wahlberg in the Bentley. There’s nothing more Hollywood than a star and his wheels.
Formerly Known as Marky Mark
And just like that, the artist formerly known as Marky Mark said a brief thank you to the crew, jumped in his car, his entourage following, and headed down the mountain into the valley of Los Angeles to seek more fortune, more re-invention and a bunch more funk.
