Visit: Once the playground of Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra, Palm Springs has become a destination for all things cool outside of Los Angeles. The young and hip make the Ace Hotel their hangout, while those looking for a more grown-up and laid-back vibe opt for the Parker or the Viceroy—each exuding a swanky ’60s vibe that has become the calling card for the desert oasis. After a day on the links (or lounging by the pool doing nothing at all), book a table at Melvyn’s, a Palm Springs institution where the Steak Dianne is cooked table-side and the martinis are served strong, just the way ol’ Blue Eyes liked ’em.
