Picasso’s masterpiece “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” was inspired by the prostitutes of Barcelona’s Carrer d’Avinyó, or Avinyó Street. Nowadays, Avinyó is home to such boutiques as Soda and La Manual Alpargatera—the shopping scene a far cry from the haunts of the brothel babes during the iconic artist’s time.
