Transportation 101

Although Barcelona has a good transit system, and there is a strong public bicycle program, called Bicing, it is very much a walking city so you’ll want to wear comfortable shoes. Barcelona inaugurated its community bicycle program in 2007, and there are currently more than 400 stations to lend and return over 3,000 bicycles, but the use of the network requires a yearly membership fee. Even though this program is not for visitors, it does have an impact on your stay, as there is less traffic on the roads and less pollution, which keeps the seaside town’s sunrises and sunsets so spectacular.
