A winner of the National Museum Service Award, the Levine Museum of the New South examines the people, places and culture of the post-Civil War South. The South dramatically reinvented itself in both its economy and society, and exhibits, programs and events at the Levine Museum highlight these changes, demonstrating the impact of progress on the land and its inhabitants. Past exhibits include: The New South’s Love Affair with the Car, Rural Voices and Visions, Courage: The Carolina Story that Changed America and Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers. Guided tours are available for an additional fee, and the museum hosts several events each month. The New York Times critic Ed Rothstein put it best: “There is an appealing integrity in the way the museum takes on its subjects.”
